Welcome to PANDEMIC

Everyone wants to be safe and healthy. We’re reaching out, into communities that have been hit hard by COVID-19, to hear your feelings and experiences about coping with the pandemic. What we learn will help us support communities with tools and resources that help everyone stay healthy.

What is PANDEMIC?

PANDEMIC: Program to Alleviate National Disparities in Ethnic and Minority Immunizations in the Community

PANDEMIC is a new kind of collaborative partnership among communities in Florida, Missouri, Minnesota, New York, California, Kentucky, and Texas. With leadership from the Community Engagement Research Program at the University of Florida, our partnership team includes:

Community Health Workers and Promotoras

Trusted members of communities who provide front-line health services, from health education and referrals to resources

Cooperative Extension Agents

Residents in communities throughout the country who provide education and outreach through their connections with colleges and universities

Researchers

Based in colleges and universities who are interested in learning new and better ways for the public, community organizations, the health care system, and scientists to team up and improve health for all

Community Members

How are we reaching out to communities?

We know that the best experts about the communities we’re working in are the people who live and work in them. That’s why we’re at churches, hair salons, health fairs, grocery stores, soccer games, neighborhood centers, and more. Here are some of the ways we’re doing this:

Survey of Perceptions

What are you doing to stay safe and healthy? What do you think about vaccinations?

With our Mobile Health Vehicles, we’re taking this work to the streets, meeting people where they are to listen and provide education and vaccinations.

What is the goal of PANDEMIC?

Our goal is to combine science and community engagement (meeting, learning from, and working directly with people in the community) to discover new and better ways people can stay safe during airborne illnesses.
